The WAST project aims to empower, mainly, young women and young professionals in the tourism sector by engaging them in training activities to create unique sustainable and alternative tours, adding elements of cultural heritage and supporting them in learning new skills and competences. Partners from five countries (Greece, Cyprus, Poland, Italy and Ukraine) participate in this project. Currently, the partnership is developing the first result of the project, the #WAST Guide, which will provide tourism related skills and capacity on thematic alternative and sustainable tours, through interactive and practical approaches.
On the 9th and 10th of February, the consortium had the second Transnational Meeting, in Thessaloniki, Greece. The partners discussed about the progress of the first result, and also, they decided on the next steps of its development. Furthermore, the partnership started preparing the first designs of the next project results; the Alternative Digital Map of Resources and the Online Space Community.
An important topic of discussion, during the meeting, was the implementation of the Training Activity during September, in Turin, Italy. This training will be addressed to students of tourism sector, and especially to young women, in order to develop their skills in alternative and sustainable tourism, through project’s results. So, in the next few months, in all partners’ countries (Poland, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Ukraine) events will take place for young people, and some of them will be chosen to participate in the Training Activity.
